Second edition (BCE) hardcover box set of The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien (Houghton Mifflin, 1969). Contains the original classic high fantasy trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring (12th print) / The Two Towers (11th print) / The Return of the King (11th print). A very clean and well-preserved vintage set of these early printings. Some blemishes to box itself with shelf wear and bumps to corners and some small torn areas, notably to bottom right corner of open side. All jackets now protected in new (removable) archival sleeves but with some mild rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges, especially to spine ends. Sun fading to dj spines. All three maps remain attached to endpapers. Boards are straight and clean, corners slightly bumped. All pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
