Handmade very vintage (1965) Peruvian Folk Art Bull, all hand made in the Pucara region of Peru.

This 8 1/4” long, 7” tall (feet to horns), and 3 1/2” wide at chest figurine is traditionally given as a wedding gift to a new couple, signifying protection, strength, fertility, vitality, and prosperity. Most popular in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Weighs 1 1/4 lbs.

Made out of Terra Cotta Clay, all by hand, then painted and glazed by hand. This bull has a bit of humor, the tongue is out and pointed to the right nostril.

Stored carefully over the years yet there are two imperfections: the right front horn has a small chip at the dark green glaze and the left front leg broke and has been expertly glued back, probably around 1975. Otherwise this bull has been in deep storage. Back left leg is 1/4” off the ground due to the “surgery” on the front left leg. These imperfections are minor for a 60 year old vintage Peru Fertility Bull. In Peru the locals hang them over the front door.
